Sony PSP - A Versatile PlayStation from Sony
The Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) is a hand-held gaming console that was launched by its Sony on May 11, 2004. Although, the controls of the PSP are meant specifically for gaming, this gaming console from Sony is capable of effectively playing video and audio files. The default battery life of the PSP is different for different applications. If you are accessing wireless network & the brightness of the screen is set to the maximum level, the battery life would be less than 3 hours. However the battery will last for more than 11 hours if the MP3 mode is used without turning the screen light on. If you wish to extend the life of your battery you can keep the PlayStation in sleep mode, as minimum amount of battery power is used this way.
Not only does the PlayStation offer a longer battery life, but also provides you with a sophisticated and user-friendly interface. The XrossMediaBar (also called XMB) is the main-menu interface. The same interface was used by Sony in its TVs, the PlayStation3, and PSX hardware. The main menu options consist of horizontally arranged icons for Settings, Music, Network Game, Video, and Photo. A sequence of vertically arranged sub icons is displayed under these options.
You can also adjust the settings of the XMB. Enjoy surfing the internet, playing audio, video & games, or simply connect it to your home PC. The interface is easy to access; you don't need to work hard for it. All that you need to do is simply press the 'Home' button. The default background tints of this PlayStation from Sony keep changing every month. However, if you want you can set the colour manually also or set an image at the background. Currently, there are about 10 official themes i.e. Wipeout, Lemmings, Cookies, etc.
To conclude, right from a user-friendly and attractive interface to gaming & audio-video features, the Sony PSP has got almost the best set of tools and features that one can seek in a multipurpose gaming console.
